The President-elect Donald Trump is preparing to execute a series of executive orders on his inaugural day back in the office.
Stephen Miller, who will assume the role of deputy chief of staff for policy at the White House, informed GOP leaders on Capitol Hill Sunday afternoon regarding Trump’s primary focuses for the near future.
“I detailed the executive measures that will be enacted tomorrow. It’s going to be an exceptionally active day!” House Majority Leader Steve Scalise shared with the Daily Beast.
The 47th president is anticipated to sign approximately 200 executive orders mainly aimed at fulfilling his border security commitments and reversing President Joe Biden’s policies concerning government reform, energy initiatives, and DEI, according to sources.
Trump is set to announce a national emergency along the U.S.-Mexico border, which will facilitate additional funding from the Pentagon and the deployment of military personnel. He is also likely to enhance infrastructure at the border and restart the Remain in Mexico initiative that mandates non-Mexican asylum seekers to wait in Mexico for their U.S. court hearings.
Government reform is likewise a significant goal for Trump, with executive orders projected to address Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy’s cost-saving Department of Government Efficiency, DEI in the private sector, and the Schedule F category that removes job protections for federal employees.
Additionally, Trump is expected to cease funding for the Green New Deal and other climate-related initiatives established by the Biden administration, declare a national emergency concerning energy, permit offshore drilling, and regulate electric vehicle policies.
Officials entering the Trump administration remarked that many of these orders are still “moving targets” pending finalization, as reported by Punchbowl News.
During a candlelight dinner with campaign donors on the eve of the inauguration, Trump pledged to overturn the Biden administration’s directives.
“With a single stroke of my pen, I will annul many of the harmful and extreme executive decisions made by the Biden administration,” he asserted.
“By this time tomorrow, all of them will be rendered null and void,” Trump added, eliciting applause from attendees.
Earlier on Sunday, Senator Ted Cruz foretold that a “new Donald Trump” would emerge compared to the one who took office in 2017.
“The Trump administration today approaches with a far better understanding of the obstacles presented by the deep state, the complications of entrenched bureaucracies that notably resisted many of his initial aspirations during his first term,” he commented. “I believe they will more effectively navigate the challenges to direct the ship in the manner the American populace anticipates.”
