No matter where President Donald Trump directs his gaze, he perceives MAGAfest Destiny—including, seemingly, within the NFL Playoffs.
Following the Kansas City Chiefs’ thrilling 32-29 win against the Buffalo Bills this past Sunday, which secured them a Super Bowl spot for the third consecutive year, Trump shared what started as a warm congratulatory message—but soon transitioned into self-promotion.
“Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs,” Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social. “Such a GREAT Team, Coach, Quarterback, and practically everything else, including those amazing FANS who voted for me (MAGA!) in record numbers.”
He also acknowledged the Buffalo Bills for a “remarkable season,” yet he notably refrained from mentioning the Philadelphia Eagles, who will compete against the Chiefs on February 9.
During his first term, Trump scrapped a planned White House gathering with the 2018 Super Bowl-winning Eagles after several players opted to boycott the occasion. He asserted that they were uninvited due to their kneeling in protest against police brutality instead of standing during the National Anthem—despite the fact that none of the Eagles actually knelt.
Last year, when the Kansas City Chiefs were set for their fourth Super Bowl in five years, the MAGA community—including unsuccessful DOGE co-chair Vivek Ramaswamy—went into a frenzy with conspiracy theories alleging that the NFL was being manipulated by the Deep State.
This was supposedly so pop icon Taylor Swift—who has been in a relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce since 2023—could deliver a surprise endorsement of then-President Joe Biden while in front of an audience of 127 million football fans.
Unsurprisingly, that endorsement never came to fruition, although Swift did eventually take to Instagram seven months later to express her support for Kamala Harris after Biden exited the race.
That, however, didn’t deter Trump from cheering on the Chiefs this past Sunday, even though in another post, he admitted he hadn’t seen much of the game. He was otherwise occupied watching Mark Levin laud him as the greatest conservative ever on his Fox News program Life, Liberty and Levin.
