The president-elect has playfully mocked his past electoral opponent by sharing a trending meme that parodies a dialogue he had with his Democratic predecessor during the recent funeral of the late Jimmy Carter.
Donald Trump uploaded the clip on Truth Social this past Sunday, showcasing a friendly exchange between himself and President Barack Obama as they sat together in the pews at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C during Thursday’s memorial service.
The altered audio includes Obama extending his congratulations to Trump on his latest victory and inquiring about his well-being. Trump’s reply is, “A lot better now.”
Obama follows up by saying, “I knew you’d win,” adding that he had tried to assist [Kamala Harris] but found her “horrendous.”
In response, Trump quips, “You know what I realized? Hillary still hates me; I know she’ll never forgive me,” before inviting Obama to play a round of golf at his home in Florida.
As the video then depicts a serious-looking Harris entering the church to join her husband, Doug Emhoff, Obama comments, “Did you see that? She didn’t even look at you,” prompting Trump to make a sarcastic remark regarding Republican rumors about Harris’s drinking habits since her defeat in November.
It’s refreshing to see the president-elect hasn’t completely abandoned his sense of humor after a judge upheld his convictions on 34 counts related to paying a pornstar to keep quiet about their extramarital affair during the 2016 election campaign, marking him as the first ‘felon president’ in nearly 250 years of U.S. history.
However, it appears that his former rival isn’t above making petty remarks herself, as Harris shared a snapshot from the funeral on Instagram that prominently featured her among Biden, Obama, and the Clintons, while conveniently cropping Trump out of the frame.
