The President-elect has strangely pledged to abolish women’s boxing during an impromptu speech at a Turning Point USA gathering.
Donald Trump, on the verge of assuming the presidency for a second term, declared that the “Gold Age of America” has arrived in his address on Sunday, before the discussion took an unexpected turn.
“There’s a collective energy we possess now that was absent just a short time ago. Regrettably, we were missing that,” Trump stated. “Who on earth can feel that energy while watching women being hit in a boxing ring? I don’t consider that energy, do you? We are going to put a stop to that swiftly!”
After reiterating his intent to abolish the sport two additional times, the audience remained largely quiet.
Even though Trump promised to “keep men out of women’s sports,” he did not explicitly refer to transgender athletes.
He subsequently shifted the topic to the stock market following his promise to conclude the sport at the young conservative event this weekend.
This year, Trump inaccurately identified two female gold medalist boxers, Imane Khelif from Algeria and Li Yu-ting from Taiwan, as transgender. Both were born and raised as women.
“They were men. They transitioned to women, and they participated in boxing,” Trump claimed.
Trump’s associate, UFC President Dana White, once stated that women would never compete in the octagon. However, he has since revised his stance.
“Timing is everything in life,” White expressed. “When I was saying we’d never include women in the UFC, I was having enough difficulty getting men fighting in a cage accepted, much less women.”
