In a recent move, Donald Trump has appointed a retired general as his envoy for the Ukraine conflict, aiming to foster peace between the nation and Russia under Vladimir Putin’s leadership after almost three years of warfare.
The chosen individual is 80-year-old Keith Kellogg, who co-wrote a document in April advocating for the U.S. to utilize military assistance as a means to encourage negotiations with the Kremlin. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Kellogg served as the national security adviser to Vice President Mike Pence during Trump’s first term. Reports indicate he recently engaged in discussions with Trump at Mar-a-Lago regarding a potential return to the White House.
According to three sources who spoke to Reuters, Kellogg provided Trump with a strategy to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, although it remains unclear whether this strategy aligns with his earlier proposals outlined in his research paper.
“Keith has had a remarkable career in both Military and Business, fulfilling crucial National Security roles during my first Administration,” Trump stated in his announcement. “He has been with me from day one! Together, we will achieve PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH and ensure that America, as well as the globe, is SAFE AGAIN!”
