Donald Trump has selected the former Fox News anchor Kimberly Guilfoyle to serve as his envoy to Greece—shortly after images appeared in the Daily Mail showing her partner, Donald Trump Jr., strolling closely with another woman.
“Kimberly has been a dear friend and supporter for many years,” stated the president-elect in his announcement shared on Truth Social.
“Her vast experience in the fields of law, media, and politics combined with her keen intelligence renders her exceptionally qualified to represent the United States and protect its interests internationally. Kimberly is ideally positioned to cultivate robust bilateral ties with Greece, furthering our priorities on a range of topics, including defense collaboration, trade, and economic innovation.”
Guilfoyle’s appointment is subject to confirmation by the Senate and would involve her overseeing international relations.
The announcement came shortly after Trump Jr., age 46, was seen getting close to socialite Bettina Anderson, 38, in Palm Beach.
Trump Jr. refrained from addressing the speculation on social media while expressing his congratulations to Guilfoyle in a succinct post on X Tuesday evening: “I am incredibly proud of Kimberly. She is passionate about America and has always aspired to serve as an Ambassador. She will excel as a leader for America First.”
Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle, 55, have not formally ended their relationship, although it appears Trump Jr. has subtly conveyed this within Florida social circles. Guilfoyle was previously married to California Governor Gavin Newsom prior to her relationship with Trump Jr. beginning in 2018.
“I am privileged to accept President Trump’s nomination to become the next Ambassador to Greece and I look forward to securing the support of the U.S. Senate,” Guilfoyle stated in a message on X.
“President Trump’s groundbreaking success is inspiring hope and positivity among the American populace and freedom-loving allies globally. The democratic principles that originated in Greece significantly influenced the foundation of America. Now, we have the chance to acknowledge that legacy by fostering improved conditions both domestically and abroad.
“As ambassador, I am eager to fulfill the Trump agenda, bolster our Greek partners, and usher in a new phase of peace and prosperity.”
The former first lady of San Francisco articulated a vision to “fight foreign aggressors” during her address at the Republican National Convention in July.
“Our vision includes America taking action against foreign threats and ensuring that our servicemen are cared for, not left behind, as they undertake their perilous duties abroad,” she remarked during her speech. “We understand that true peace can only be achieved through strength.”
Trump has also appointed another family member to spearhead international relations, notably designating his daughter Tiffany’s father-in-law, Massad Boulos, as his senior advisor for the Middle East.
