Donald Trump scoffed at a story stating that Joe Biden still holds the belief he could have secured victory in the 2024 presidential race had he not exited following a poor debate showing in June.
“Well, he was trailing significantly, I’m sure he really wouldn’t have had a chance,” Trump remarked when approached by journalists at his Mar-a-Lago New Year’s Eve celebration.
“I wish him nothing but the best,” Trump expressed regarding his predecessor. “He had an opportunity during the debate, and that didn’t go very well for him. That was, I suppose, the main reason for his decline.”
As reported by the Washington Post, Biden admitted to having “messed up” during the presidential debate against Trump, which significantly harmed his campaign. He provided hesitant, awkward answers to inquiries and found it difficult to respond to his rival’s bold comments.
However, the Post indicates that Biden, age 82, and some of his advisors currently believe he should have persevered despite his unflattering polling figures.
A number of other Democrats continue to criticize the president for lingering too long and not giving his vice president, Kamala Harris, sufficient time to orchestrate a successful campaign.
While at Mar-a-Lago, Trump, age 78, forecasted that the United States was poised for a “remarkable year” in 2025. “I believe our country is going to thrive. We’re going to restore it; it must be restored. People aren’t showing enough respect for our nation, and they need to respect us a whole lot more,” he stated.
“There’s a brilliant light encompassing the entire globe,” he added. “It’s not just our nation; there are many very joyful individuals out there.”
