Senators participating in the vote regarding Robert F. Kennedy Jr.‘s appointment as health secretary on Wednesday have been warned.
Nicole Shanahan, a lawyer from Silicon Valley who served as RFK Jr.’s vice presidential candidate last year, declared her intention to do whatever it takes to sabotage the careers of any Senators opposing his nomination for Secretary of Health and Human Services.
In a short video message shared on X Tuesday evening, she specified several senators’ names—both from the Democratic and Republican parties.
Shanahan revealed that she had “quietly cut large checks” to Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer during the last election cycle to support the campaigns of Georgia Senators Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.
“Be aware that I will be closely monitoring your votes,” she warned the lawmakers. “It will be my personal goal for you to lose your Senate seats if you choose to vote against the health of America’s children.”
Shanahan, who founded and is the CEO of the patent management firm ClearAccessIP, was reportedly transformed into a billionaire following her divorce from Google co-founder Sergey Brin.
The couple parted ways in 2021 after three years of marriage and finalized their divorce in 2023 amid allegations that Shanahan, 39, had an affair with tech mogul Elon Musk. Both parties have denied these claims.
Shanahan also named Senators Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, Bill Cassidy, Thom Tillis, James Lankford, Cory Booker, John Fetterman, Bernie Sanders, and Catherine Cortez Masto in her message.
“This is a bipartisan appeal, and it comes straight from me,” she clarified. “While Bobby might be inclined to play it safe, I won’t hesitate if you oppose him. I will independently finance challengers to take you on in your next campaign, and I will rally hundreds of thousands to support me.”
Shanahan encouraged her followers to contact their senators and insist they support the confirmation of RFK Jr., also referred to as Bobby.
RFK Jr., known for his skepticism regarding vaccines and advocating several controversial public health policies, is set to undergo a Senate confirmation hearing as Donald Trump’s choice to oversee the Department of Health and Human Services.
Caroline Kennedy, the sole surviving child of John F. Kennedy, previously characterized her cousin RFK Jr. as a “predator” and urged the Senate to reject his nomination.
