Last week, reports revealed that Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos paid a visit to Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago, marking another instance of business leaders eager to meet the president-elect.
At 60 years old, Sarandos has a history of contributions to Democrats, including President Joe Biden, former President Barack Obama, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, as noted by Reuters. Additionally, he is married to Nicole Avant, who served as Obama’s United States Ambassador to the Bahamas from 2009 to 2011.
Since Trump’s election win over Vice President Kamala Harris, a host of influential business tycoons have sought to win his favor. Just last week, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos shared a dinner with Trump at Mar-a-Lago, alongside Trump supporter and Twitter CEO, Elon Musk. Another tech giant, Mark Zuckerberg, visited the president-elect’s Palm Beach residence the month prior, while Apple’s CEO Tim Cook had made an earlier trip in December.
Following Zuckerberg’s visit, his company Meta contributed $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund, a step that Amazon is allegedly contemplating as well.
Trump appears to be relishing the attention, having posted last week: “EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE MY FRIEND.”
