Michael Moore (remember him?) cautioned Democrats that their ongoing endorsement of arms supplies to Israel might result in “more electoral losses.”
“What finer method exists to commemorate the defeat in the November 5th election than by perpetually disregarding the wishes of the American populace who are against Israel’s offensive in Gaza,” the filmmaker expressed in a Substack entry on Saturday. “Gaza. There’s no clearer message to the public that ‘we acknowledge your concerns’ than the Democratic Party proclaiming that ‘we’re going to harm even more children in Palestine now with your/our American tax funding.’”
Moore’s harsh condemnation of his own political party follows more than 30 Democratic senators voting against resolutions this week aimed at halting arms shipments to Israel. The PEACE resolution, introduced by Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, sought to limit US support for Israel’s military actions in Gaza.
Moore labeled the Democratic lawmakers who voted against the resolution, including Pennsylvania’s Senator John Fetterman and New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, as “genocide arms dealers.” He praised those who voted in favor for having “the bravery to say no.”
“Democratic senators ought to be more informed. Their actions in backing this aggression will inevitably result in further electoral setbacks,” Moore stated. “Voters aged under 45 and individuals of color, together constituting almost half the electorate, show little interest in warfare and would prefer our government invest in education, elder care, and our failing healthcare system. It’s time to sever ties with Bibi.”
A long-standing adversary of the Democratic party’s support for Israel, Moore played a role in mobilizing an initiative that led to 100,000 voters in Michigan expressing dissent against President Joe Biden during the state primary.
He called on Kamala Harris to leverage her position as vice president to insist that Biden secure a cease-fire and suspend military assistance to Israel.
Of course, Moore might do well to point blame where it lies in reality… the genocidal Hamas terrorists who slaughtered 1,200 innocent Jews in a single morning on October 7, 2023.
