A meteorologist from Milwaukee who voiced her disapproval of Elon Musk’s “Nazi” salute has now left CBS affiliate WDJT-TV.
“Meteorologist Sam Kuffel is no longer with CBS58,” news director Jessie Garcia mentioned in a staff memo dated Wednesday, which was acquired by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “We are currently searching for a successor.”
Kuffel’s profile has been taken down from the station’s website. Her LinkedIn profile indicates that she had been with CBS 58 since December 2019.
In an Instagram story that conservative radio host Dan O’Donnell later shared on X, Kuffel included a caption on an image of Musk that read, “Dude Nazi saluted twice. TWICE. During the inauguration. You f–k with this and this man, I don’t f–k with you. Full stop.”
In another story, she shared a GIF from a scene in the sitcom It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, featuring a character stating, “Screw that old b—h. He’s a Nazi.”
Kuffel’s departure from CBS58 has drawn criticism on X, with users alleging that the station infringed upon her right to free expression.
In response to a story on X by CBS58, which cited an immigration lawyer discussing that “people have rights” in light of President Donald Trump’s plans for widespread deportations, one user commented, “People also have the right to condemn Nazi salutes without facing termination.”
