Following an encounter between “Morning Joe” hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski with President-elect Donald Trump, aimed at mending their rapport, one of their conservative counterparts experienced an expletive-filled outburst regarding the situation.
During her podcast on Monday, former Fox News personality Megyn Kelly pointed out that just a few weeks prior, the duo had been comparing Trump to Hitler. She later exclaimed, “Go f— yourselves!”
Scarborough and Brzezinski disclosed earlier that day that they recently visited Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate. They expressed to their viewers that they felt it was “time to do something different” in their reporting concerning the president-elect.
“Make no mistake, we’re not here to defend or legitimize Donald Trump,” Scarborough stated after his meeting with Trump this week. “We’re here to cover him.”
Kelly strongly criticized the Morning Joe team’s sudden change in stance regarding the president-elect, labeling them as “dishonest jokes of faux journalists.”
“Access to power means everything to that small, little man,” she remarked, referring to Scarborough.
A source connected to the show informed the Daily Beast that the meeting “was f—ing worth it,” as it might have prompted Trump to acknowledge the importance of a free press following the gathering.
“You never pass up that chance,” the source said. “That would be journalistic malpractice.”
In an interview with Fox News on Monday, Trump asserted that it was “very important, if not essential, to have a free, fair, and open media or press.”
Kelly has also appeared to have changed her viewpoint on the former president. In 2015, Trump notoriously unleashed a profane tirade suggesting that the former Fox News anchor held a grudge against him.
“She gets out and starts throwing ridiculous questions at me,” Trump told CNN back then. “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her … wherever.”
Trump ultimately boycotted a Fox debate due to Kelly’s role as a moderator. Last year, the now-independent media figure stated that all of it was “water under the bridge.”
The day before Election Day, Kelly played a part in delivering Trump’s closing message at a Pittsburgh rally, which the Associated Press characterized as a “full-circle moment.”
“He was derided by the left for claiming he would be a protector of women,” Kelly said at the rally. “He will be a protector of women, and that’s why I’m voting for him. He will secure the border and ensure that boys don’t compete in women’s sports where they don’t belong.”
