Kamala Harris is likely accustomed to media scrutiny throughout her tenure as vice president and her aspirations for the presidency, particularly from her long-standing critics at Fox News. It’s not uncommon for her family—husband Doug Emhoff and stepdaughter Ella Emhoff—to find themselves in the crosshairs as well.
Now, however, “Dougie Fresh,” as referred to by Jesse Watters, has taken the spotlight for what some deem the utmost offense… accompanying his wife on a shopping trip.
In a segment on his namesake Primetime show Thursday, the Fox host criticized Vice President Joe Biden’s running mate for launching a blog and suggested that “Mamala” was “spotted” grocery shopping. Perhaps feeling the repercussions of challenging Hulk Hogan, Watters delivered a rather flimsy critique of her behavior.
“Kamala claims she wasn’t going to exit quietly, yet she’s been as silent as a mime,” Watters remarked, delivering his lines with a Trump-like inflection. “Mamala just started a blog, and we checked it out; she’s looking for our email so she can solicit donations.”
This astute remark allowed the Fox News personality to smoothly transition to images of Harris and Emhoff shopping at 99 Ranch Market, an Asian grocery store located in Westwood, California, as reported by the New York Post.
“And she must need it because grocery costs are outrageous. She has now learned about inflation,” he quipped. “The New York Post spotted her grocery shopping with Dougie Fresh.”
Then came the punchline, just before Watters redirected his commentary to ridicule CNN. “What kind of husband accompanies his wife to the grocery store?” he asked, feigning astonishment.
Right-wing commentator Eric Daugherty took to X to share his own humorous take on this grocery saga. “JUST IN: Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff spotted grocery shopping together with plastic bags, breaching leftist environmental principles,” he tweeted.
Following President Donald Trump’s inauguration at the beginning of the week, Harris and her husband promptly returned to the West Coast.
