Elon Musk and Barron Trump may be on their way to forging a close friendship.
Maye Musk, the billionaire’s mother, revealed during an appearance on Fox Business that her son and the youngest Trump connected at the Thanksgiving dinner at Mar-a-Lago, discussing a subject that is particularly significant to Musk—interplanetary settlement.
“During Thanksgiving dinner, Barron and Elon were chatting about different planets,” she shared. “[Barron’s] 18 years old. They talked about all the various planets and why Mars is considered the ideal location to establish a new civilization. I was quite impressed with him as well.”
The elder Musk also shared insights into her son’s growing friendship with Donald Trump.
Since Musk became a prominent supporter of Trump’s campaign leading up to his electoral win, the two have appeared publicly together on numerous occasions: including at a SpaceX rocket launch, meetings with international leaders, and even at a UFC fight.
Trump has informally appointed Musk to lead a new Department of Government Efficiency.
“They get along quite well,” noted Maye Musk, adding, “I believe Trump appreciates having someone he can fully trust without hidden agendas.”
Musk further expressed her favorable view of her son’s political associates.
“I feel that Trump aims for transparency and honesty regarding where tax funds are allocated. He doesn’t intend to be unkind to anyone,” she said. “I think our collective happiness will increase.”
Musk accompanied her son for Thanksgiving at Trump’s Palm Beach, Florida resort and home, indicating that her interactions with the Trump family were quite pleasant.
“Everyone is charming, kind, generous, fascinating, and soft-spoken, which is intriguing since politicians are often loud,” she remarked. “I have met Melania and look forward to spending more time with her as well.”
