On Tuesday, Florida Democratic Representative Jared Moskowitz dismissed speculation regarding his potential involvement in Donald Trump’s forthcoming presidential administration.

A report from CNN on Monday suggested that Moskowitz was a leading candidate for the role of head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which would position him as the highest-ranking Democrat within Trump’s administration.

However, Moskowitz has made it evident that he is not seeking that position.

“I value the speculation but I’m committed to my work in Congress and am campaigning for re-election,” he stated on X. “It’s a privilege to represent the people of Florida’s 23rd district.”

“To clarify, no offer was ever made,” he expressed in another post.

CNN had reported, based on three anonymous sources close to Trump’s decision-making regarding administration appointments, that Moskowitz was considered for the role.

Trump’s transition team did not promptly reply to an inquiry regarding this matter.

Although he is a Democrat, Moskowitz has previously cooperated with Republicans and possesses considerable expertise in disaster management.

For a two-year period, he served as Florida’s emergency management director under Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, spearheading the state’s response to Hurricane Michael in 2018 and the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

His profile on X refers to him as a “Master of Disaster.”

Moskowitz has also shown support for one of Trump’s key associates, billionaire Elon Musk. He was the first Democrat to announce his intention to join the House caucus for the Department of Government Efficiency, an agency that Trump informally established for Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead.
