Pam Bondi, the individual selected by Donald Trump to succeed as attorney general, possesses at least one advantage, according to CNN political analyst Ana Navarro on Thursday: Unlike some others, she has not faced allegations of sexual assault or statutory rape.
Navarro made a comparison between Bondi and various members of Trump’s Cabinet, starting with former Florida congressman Matt Gaetz. Gaetz stands accused of engaging in sexual activities with a minor and of paying for sexual services. He has refuted these allegations, and a federal investigation into the claims did not result in any charges against him.
“I know Pam Bondi quite well,” Navarro stated during AC360. “Pam Bondi, like many Republicans, is a conventional Republican who has embraced MAGA.”
“I can assure you, she does not come off as a monster. She is not unpleasant. She does not aim to present herself as the type of individual that Matt Gaetz tries to portray,” she remarked.
“Bondi has been an early supporter of Donald Trump since the 2016 primaries, backing him even when Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio were also in the running. With Pam Bondi, he gains someone who is loyal, and that is something he values highly.”
“Moreover,” Navarro added, “she has not been accused of statutory rape nor has she committed it.”
Navarro also referenced former Fox News anchor Pete Hegseth, who faced allegations of sexual assault in 2017 and had settled with his accuser out of concern for his television career. Hegseth has denied the allegations against him.
“She has not faced any sexual assault accusations,” Navarro pointed out.
She then made a further comparison to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump’s choice for the role of secretary of Health and Human Services.
“She hasn’t sawed the head off a whale or stabbed a deceased bear cub. So, overall, I’d consider her one of the more favorable choices.”
