On Monday afternoon, former President Bill Clinton was hospitalized for “testing and observation after experiencing a fever,” as stated by an aide.
At the age of 78, Clinton was admitted to the Georgetown University Medical Center located in Washington, D.C.
According to a post on X by his deputy chief of staff, Angel Ureña, “He remains in good spirits and is very grateful for the outstanding care he is receiving.”
The Daily Beast did not receive an immediate response from representatives of the former president regarding a request for comment.
Nonetheless, a source familiar with Clinton’s situation informed NBC News that the former president is expected to recover well.
“He had a fever and wanted to get evaluated. He is conscious and alert,” the source reported.
This is not the first time Clinton has faced health issues since his presidency ended in 2001. In 2004, after experiencing chest pain and difficulty breathing, doctors advised him to have open-heart surgery. Clinton successfully underwent a quadruple bypass and later received two stents for a blocked artery in 2010.
In 2005, he was hospitalized due to a partially collapsed lung. More recently, Clinton was in the hospital for six days in 2021 after suffering from a blood infection.
In 2024, Clinton had a busier year, dedicating weeks to fundraising for President Joe Biden and actively campaigning for Vice President Kamala Harris after she secured the Democratic nomination in July.
