Trump emerges victorious in a 312-226 electoral college landslide… and wins the popular vote. Ouch!
How did the Democrats fall to Donald Trump: the individual they derided and ridiculed as a malevolent con artist, a fascist, a criminal? What a disgrace!
This inquiry will initially lead to blame-shifting among the Democrats. However, in the end, they must reflect inwardly, as Trump didn’t achieve victory: The Democrats faced defeat—and they will continue to do so unless they grasp the underlying lessons.
Here are the top 10 factors:
For months, prominent Democratic figures left the White House after conferring with President Biden, intentionally praising his health, strength, and mental sharpness.
Then, the American public witnessed his performance in the first debate and were taken aback by his condition, realizing the ongoing deception from the Democrats.
It seemed as if pushing Biden out of office was a coup d’état. The manner in which party leaders appointed Kamala Harris without a primary was additionally insulting.
People select their leaders, and elections hold significance. This error was exacerbated by instigating a rushed campaign that placed Harris at a disadvantage.
Democrats were out of touch with the realities faced by working-class Americans and their distressing economic situation. The escalating costs of everyday life were the campaign’s primary concern—and Democrats overlooked it.
Inflation, likely triggered by Biden’s policies, was overwhelming. Trump consistently led in public perception regarding “Who can better manage the economy?” In some cases, the bottom line truly matters.
Worse yet, the issues that the Democratic Party did choose to focus on only further estranged them from working Americans.
The “progressive” stance of the Democratic Party—initially advocated by FDR as a practical initiative for working individuals—was warped by extremist far-left views on matters such as defunding the police, legalizing sex work, open immigration, and sex education in schools.
The cultural elitism displayed by the Democratic Party was encapsulated by the “woke” movement.
The focus on Harris and gender transition surgeries for inmates underscored the disconnection. A Republican advertisement addressing this issue, stating “she is for they/them and Trump is for you,” was profoundly effective.
Harris consistently failed to provide a clear answer to the question; the only answer was: “Under Donald Trump, the law permitted these surgeries, but I will cease utilizing $100,000 in taxpayer money for gender transition surgeries for inmates when many Americans can’t even afford basic dental care.”
The crisis at the southern border and the fiasco of immigration represented a complete failure over four years, and Harris—the appointed border czar—didn’t even address this during the campaign.
This did nothing to signify basic competence. Government should not be an abstract theoretical concept but a service delivering tangible improvements to people’s lives.
Legislative successes never translated into real-world progress. The American populace was not in a better situation than before.
No substantial or meaningful improvement occurred; signs pointed in the opposite direction. Urban areas faced a decline post-COVID, with crime, homelessness, and turmoil apparent, yet local, state, and federal Democrats offered no significant responses.
Commuters and visitors to cities were appalled by the conditions.
Once again, the Democratic Party seemed either indifferent or incapable.
With global unrest, Americans seek reassurance in their leaders. The conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine endure. The potential for worldwide conflicts is deeply concerning.
In this climate, Harris projected uncertainty and indecision. She adopted a pro-everything stance without instilling confidence in her ability to manage these enormous issues. Trump—regardless of perspective—exuded strength and determination.
Democrats put too much emphasis on abortion as a pivotal issue. Yes, abortion is a significant concern for many Americans, particularly among Democrats.
However, abortion was not a decisive factor for every man or even woman, varying by location, beliefs, age, and marital status.
Numerous states are currently addressing this issue, and much of the attention has shifted towards state actions.
The abortion debate simply didn’t outweigh people’s worries about their daily lives.
The Democrats’ legal actions against Trump backfired, ironically casting him as a victim of an unfair justice system.
While the inquiry into Jan. 6 was warranted, other investigations seemed politically charged and inconsequential, tainting the original legitimate efforts.
Democrats’ assertions about “threats to democracy” appeared insincere while they utilized the justice system—the one government function meant to remain sacrosanct—for political purposes.
At one point, people trusted the objectivity and truthfulness of news reports, thus establishing a sense of right and wrong.
Fox News stood apart, perceived as favoring Republicans in its reporting.
Nevertheless, today, many regard all media outlets as biased, rendering Fox as credible as various others, albeit with a larger audience, and their consistent critiques of the Democratic Party made a significant impact.
Sexism and racism persist in American society and must be overcome by showcasing ability, capacity, and inclusiveness. The Democrats did not reach this standard.
Ultimately, life revolves around choices. The Democratic Party failed to present any.
