We are increasingly seeing how Artificial Intelligence is being applied to the apps, platforms, and services we use every day and all the advantages and facilities that this adoption of technology gives us. In recent years, we have seen how Google has not stopped incorporating AI into its tools or how Spotify is taking advantage of its capabilities to improve the experience, and now it seems that WhatsApp is going to be next.
The fact that the world’s number one messaging app was preparing its own AI-driven tool is not a surprise, as the company had already announced that they were working on what they call the Meta AI button. But what we didn’t know was when (more or less) this feature was going to arrive to users’ smartphones.
And although they have not announced dates yet, the discovery made by WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp specialized media, suggests that in a matter of months, all WhatsApp users worldwide will be able to enjoy Meta’s AI within their account.
This is because as they have found out, the company owned by Mark Zuckerberg has started extending the Meta AI tool to a select group of users who had their account set in English as the default language in certain regions, and at the same time they have also launched this feature to a limited group located in India, but with the difference that the AI tool is placed differently.
This is because at first Meta AI will be like another chat within our WhatsApp, and it will be placed among the chats you have with your family, friends, or whoever. But for the lucky users in India who have received this update, the Meta AI feature appears in the search bar of WhatsApp which until now was used to find conversations, users, and more.
What will we be able to do with Meta AI
There are several functionalities that Meta’s AI will have, on the one hand there will be the chatbot, and just like ChatGPT or Gemini, users will be able to use this new chat to ask questions or for advice. It is believed that there will be different tones of conversation depending on what you need, with one being more joking and another being more serious.
Meta AI will also allow us to create images and even Stickers using its generative capabilities, which will work like other platforms on the market where you write a description and the platform generates it for you.
It is worth mentioning that Meta has ensured that the integration of Meta AI is separate from the rest of the app’s functions, so at no time will your chats with other users reach the AI, maintaining the same level of privacy as before.
