Lunden Roberts, the Arkansas mother of one of Hunter Biden’s children, has unveiled her memoir entitled “Out of the Shadows.” This 312-page book, co-authored with Josh Manning and Erin Brownback, chronicles her experiences from the moment she met Hunter Biden to achieving a familial reconciliation. Roberts first encountered Biden at a social gathering in Washington, DC, around early 2017, where they embarked on a romantic relationship despite a notable age disparity.
She reminisces about being captivated by his charisma while also finding herself caught up in his lifestyle characterized by extensive partying and substance use. When Roberts learned she was expecting in late 2017, she claimed that Biden was absent during crucial times. After returning to Arkansas, she contemplated suicide after giving birth but ultimately chose to embrace life following her daughter’s arrival.
In 2019, she initiated a paternity lawsuit, which was substantiated by DNA testing. In 2020, Roberts secured a monthly child support payment of $20,000, but later on, Biden sought to lower the amount. After reaching a resolution regarding child support in 2023, both parties began striving to cultivate a relationship centered around their daughter, Navy.
Biden assured he would take on a more active role in her life. Navy became aware of her Biden lineage from a distance, with Roberts educating her about her family tree and well-known relatives. The memoir captures moving moments where Navy faced challenges due to her father’s absence yet also highlights Biden’s subsequent attempts to connect through regular video calls.
Roberts praises Biden’s dedication to nurturing their newfound relationship despite his ongoing legal issues. Born on March 5, 1991, in Arkansas, Roberts has sought to navigate these complexities.
Strengthening family bonds amidst adversity
She completed her education at Southside High School in Batesville and then attended Arkansas State University before pursuing further studies at George Washington University, where she met Biden in fall 2016. Roberts began working as Biden’s assistant, which led to a complicated romantic involvement.
She became integrated into his daily life, even spending time at Joe and Jill Biden’s residence in Delaware. In January 2018, Roberts discovered she was pregnant with Biden’s child. She returned to Arkansas to be closer to her family for support and to raise her child.
In May 2019, she filed a lawsuit against Biden seeking child support. A paternity test conducted in November 2019 confirmed Biden as the father. The legal proceedings wrapped up in January 2020, resulting in Biden agreeing to provide $20,000 monthly in child support.
In June 2023, they reached a settlement in which Biden would contribute $5,000 monthly for Navy’s upbringing. Roberts published her memoir in August 2024, outlining her relationship with Biden and detailing the first five years of her daughter’s life. She aimed for the book to provide her perspective on her experiences and hopes her daughter will appreciate the story one day.
Amidst legal disputes and public eye scrutiny, Roberts remains optimistic about fostering a positive relationship with Hunter Biden for the benefit of their daughter, Navy Joan Roberts. However, she expressed pain regarding Navy’s exclusion from family gatherings such as the Democratic National Convention.
