WiFi connection has become an almost indispensable tool in any home, office, or establishment, so asking for the router password has become completely normal and accepted, but what if there was a way for you to connect without needing to know the password?
Don’t worry, we are not talking about “hacking” your neighbor’s WiFi or the airport’s, simply in today’s article we will show you some of the different (legal) ways to connect to a WiFi network without needing to know its access key.
You may want to do this because you don’t want to have to type the very long password that the router may have, or because you have forgotten what the password was, or simply because you are embarrassed to ask for it, either way, today we show you how to do it.
Use WPS
The quickest and easiest way to connect to a WiFi network without knowing its password is by using WPS. This feature, which has been integrated into routers since 2007, allows you to connect to WiFi with just the push of a button.
For this, all you have to do is take your smartphone, go to the Network and Internet section, access the WiFi Menu and look for Advanced Settings and click on WPS Button. When you have done this, you must approach the router you want to connect to and press the button labeled WPS, the connection will be established in just a few seconds.
If your phone does not have WPS, you can download a third-party app to act as the connector.
Through QR
Today QR codes have become a widely used option, and among all its uses, we also find it on the back of a router. You just have to point our camera and QR reader at the sticker and it will automatically connect to the WiFi without the need for passwords.
Have someone share the password with you
We don’t always have access to the router, so there is also the option of having someone share the password with you. If you have an Android, you will have to go to the Network and Internet section, access the WiFi Menu and select the connection you want, then click on Share.
If you are an Apple user, you just have to go to the WiFi section, select the network you want to share and iOS will ask us if we want to share the password with the other device, for it to work both devices must have both WiFi and Bluetooth connected.
