The founder and CEO of the American technology company Nvidia, Jensen Huang, stated this Sunday that humanity is entering a “new industrial revolution” thanks to the arrival of generative artificial intelligence (AI), which is poised to “reshape” the computing industry.
“For the first time, the information technology industry, worth 3 trillion dollars (2.76 trillion euros), is about to create something that will lead to a 100 trillion dollar (92.11 trillion euro) industry,” Huang said during a speech at the National Taiwan University reported by EFE.
Donning his characteristic black leather jacket, Huang delivered a nearly two-hour presentation in which he outlined the company’s main developments: from Earth-2, a digital “clone” of the Earth that allows for highly accurate climate predictions, to the “digital humans” of NVIDIA ACE, and the construction of “artificial intelligence factories” with NVIDIA Blackwell architecture.
According to Huang, applications based on generative AI will require less energy to operate and will be much faster, which will have a “very profound” impact on the technology industry.
“In the last 60 years, we have seen two or three changes that have completely altered the world of technology. That is happening right now,” said the entrepreneur, emphasizing that this will not be a computer manufacturing industry, but rather these same computers will be responsible for the manufacturing processes, “something that has never happened before.”
With a value of nearly 2.7 trillion dollars (2.48 trillion euros), Nvidia is the third-largest company in the United States by market capitalization, only behind Microsoft and Apple, after its shares have accumulated a rise of over 120% so far this year due to the boom in artificial intelligence applications and devices.
Nvidia reported a net profit of 14.881 billion dollars (13.706 billion euros) during the first fiscal quarter of 2025, seven times more than in the same period of the previous year, while its revenue increased by 262% during this time, reaching 26.044 billion dollars (23.989 billion euros).
Huang’s Journey to Taiwan
Born in the southern city of Tainan in 1961, Huang arrived on his native island on May 26 for the Computex in Taipei, one of the most important events in the technology sector, which officially starts this Tuesday with the presence of more than 1,500 exhibitors from 36 countries or regions, such as Google, Intel, Micron, Qualcomm, and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).
The entrepreneur took advantage of his visit to Taiwan to have dinner with several heavyweights of the industry, including Morris Chang, founder of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), a company that manufactures the most advanced chips, and Young Liu, president of Hon Hai (Foxconn), the world’s largest contract electronics manufacturer.
“Taiwan is the home of our cherished partners. This is where everything Nvidia does begins, everything that our partners and ourselves bring to the world. We have created the global infrastructure for AI,” Huang affirmed at the beginning of his speech.
