The factors that influence when choosing a new vehicle are many. The type of fuel, dimensions, capacity, consumption and autonomy, environmental badge, price, and the aids that may apply… numerous factors that also vary depending on the user and the use that will be given to it.
In this sense, the point of view provided by Francisco, a mechanic at FR Motor Sevilla, is interesting. In addition to repairing vehicles, this expert often posts videos on his Youtube channel with repairs, personal reflections, and opinions. However, always related to the world of motor vehicles.
In one of his latest videos (‘Hybrid vehicles yes or no‘), the mechanic analyzes the reliability of the vehicles that come to his workshop, focusing specifically on the case of hybrid cars (a sector in which the manufacturer Toyota is a reference). To do this, he took advantage of the battery replacement in a Toyota Auris, with a cost of 1,850 euros, which might seem like a significant financial investment to anyone. However, the content creator’s opinion was the opposite.
“It’s a car that we won’t have to put a clutch on, that we won’t have to put an alternator or a timing belt on. There are a ‘bunch’ of mechanical components in the thermal part that won’t break because we don’t have them. Nor do we have a starter motor or a turbo,” he begins explaining. “There is nothing better than this, that gives fewer problems than this,” certifies the mechanic.
Similarly, Francisco also gave a response to those who frequently ask for his opinion on ‘which SUV to buy’. “If you want a car that won’t give you headaches and you unfortunately like SUVs, I recommend a (Toyota) RAV4. Buy yourself a RAV4 and enjoy for 15 or 16 years until you have to change the battery and you have saved a lot of money in repairs.”
“Maintaining one of these vehicles (hybrids) is very, very, very cheap,” he concludes.
