SAN ANTONIO – Big banks like Goldman Sachs suggest that AI might one day take over as many as 300 million jobs. We’ve all heard of cool tools like Chat GPT, but has it really changed things on the ground?

Well, local businesses are giving AI a thumbs up for making things run smoother. However, so far, the local job scene looks pretty much the same.

Take Washington Navarro, for instance. He runs The Entrepreneurial World, a company that nurtures budding entrepreneurs in the US and Latin America. He’s tapped into the power of AI to serve more students. “Quickly, we saw how to use AI for our benefit. It’s not just us – many we work with saw a chance to up their game,” said Navarro.

While AI might sound like some space-age magic, it’s actually been around. Chances are, you’ve been using it in your day-to-day without even noticing. “Sure, the latest AI tech is all fancy and new. But we’ve been mixing AI into our lives since the early 2000s,” pointed out Ivy Vasquez Sandoval, who designs robot software at Plus One Robotics. Her take on AI? “It’s like math and computer codes trying to copy what we humans do.”

Chat GPT and other AI tools mainly help with basic tasks right now, speeding things up and making them more efficient. “We’re expecting big things from AI, but as of now, the real-world impact isn’t massive,” Adrian Lopez, the head honcho at Workforce Solutions Alamo, weighed in.

Still, Lopez warns about the changing job landscape. “If you’re not updating your skills or learning continuously, you might get left behind in the AI age,” he cautioned. Here’s a list of 8 High-Risk Job Roles Vulnerable To AI Replacement

But if you’re feeling a bit wary about this whole tech thing? Washington has some simple advice: “Stay curious.”
