The activists executed a sit-in outside the New York Stock Exchange, securing themselves to the entrance doors before the market opened. Their objective was to “disrupt business as usual” and request that the U.S. government halt arms supplies to Israel.
They showcased slogans such as “Fund FEMA not genocide,” “Gaza bombed, Wall Street profits,” and “Jews demand divestment from Israel.”

“We are here as Jews because both the Biden administration and the Israeli government frequently claim that the genocide they are executing is for the sake of Jewish safety, and we reject that notion with every fiber of our being,” remarked Beth Miller, the director of Jewish Voice for Peace. The organization, which identifies itself as the “largest progressive anti-Zionist Jewish group globally,” has strongly opposed U.S. military support to Israel.

The police spent approximately three hours executing the arrests, resulting in a total of 206 people being detained. The protesters added a striking touch by placing a red shirt on the famous Fearless Girl statue, symbolizing their demand for reform.
Witnesses reported that the police were thorough, methodically dismantling the protest while keeping the peace. The apprehensions commenced around 9:30 a.m. and wrapped up by 12:30 p.m.
This significant protest illustrates an increasing dissatisfaction within certain Jewish communities regarding U.S. backing for Israel, highlighting the intricate relationships between identity and global politics in these demographics.
