Nintendo will introduce the successor console to Switch during this fiscal year. Nintendo has confirmed that it will present its new video game console, the successor to Nintendo Switch, during this fiscal year, while also announcing a new Nintendo Direct event, which will focus on the games coming to this hardware in the second half of this year.
The Japanese video game company announced the first Nintendo Switch in 2015, although its release took place two years later. Since then, they have released several updates, such as the Nintendo Switch model with a longer battery life and the model with OLED screen, not to mention the handheld-only version, Switch Lite.
Now, Nintendo’s president, Shuntaro Furukawa, has confirmed that they will announce the company’s next console, the successor to the current Nintendo Switch, during this fiscal year, which runs until March 2025.
This was detailed by the executive in a X post (previously Twitter) from the NintendoCoLtd account, in which he explained that after “more than nine years” since they announced the existence of Nintendo Switch, they will unveil the new console no later than March of the next year.
Furukawa has also announced that they will hold a Nintendo Direct event next month of June. However, he stressed that it will be a presentation that will feature updates on “Nintendo Switch’s software lineup for the second half of 2024.”
With this, Nintendo has clarified that during the event, no information related to the successor console of Nintendo Switch will be shared. Instead, new games and company updates for the second half of this year will be revealed.
