The small Hyundai SUV is updated in design and adopts driving assistance systems that will be mandatory from July.
Improves Bayon’s safety, which Hyundai takes advantage of to give it a new face and a price increase of about 200 euros. The front now features a characteristic horizontal daytime running light, from side to side, reminiscent of its big brother, the Hyundai Kona. The grille and bumper design also change. The rear design of the lights also changes, and new designs are offered for the wheels, which can be 16 or 17 inches in diameter.
These improvements come at an ideal moment, just when Dacia Duster and Citroën C3 have renewed their weapons and aim to be protagonists in a segment with great success, that of small SUVs, or B-segment SUVs.
Bayon, the B-segment SUV with ECO label
The Hyundai Bayon is offered with a 1.2 or a 1.0 turbo engine, both gasoline-powered. In any of its three trim levels (Klass, Maxx, or Tecno), the lower displacement version, the 1.0 turbo engine has an ECO label. The Hyundai Bayon is positioned among the attractive small SUVs by price for those looking for the DGT’s ECO labeling. The Bayon has maintained a conservative price, because while before its enemy was its cousin, the Kia Stonic, the B-SUV landscape has become heated.
If before the cheapest enemies of the Hyundai Bayon were smaller, like the Suzuki Ignis, or were powered by LPG, recently the Stellantis group with its Fiat 500 and 600, and Jeep Avenger, or the Renault-Mitsubishi group with their Captur and ASX start even lower in their prices.
Colors for interior lighting
In terms of connectivity and technology, the Bayon offers new features, such as navigation map updates via the cloud, a 4.2-inch digital instrument cluster, and popular features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, or the wireless charger, plus two USB-C ports and a USB-A. It also offers Hyundai’s connected car functions known as Bluelink.
For the AVN navigation screen, the same 10.25-inch screen is used as in the higher-end finishes of the previous Bayon. The ambient lighting has been switched to LED and, optionally, will allow selection from different colors. Four new colors will be offered on the exterior, as well as a two-tone body with a black roof.
Enhancements in Bayon’s safety
Improvements in driving assistance allow the Bayon to boast semi-autonomous driving features. It has lane-keeping assist and front collision avoidance assist. It also includes the system to avoid collisions in the blind-spot mirror and features that alert the driver in case of distraction or drowsiness. They announce a second generation of eCall, the automatic emergency call system in case of an accident, based on a 4G network.
