Well, folks, it’s that time again – President Biden is on the defensive after an offhand comment that has everyone buzzing. During a Zoom call with the group Voto Latino, he seemed to refer to supporters of Donald Trump as “garbage.” Yep, that word really caught fire. Biden insisted he was just talking about the negative rhetoric from a specific rally. “The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters’—his—his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American,” he declared.

Naturally, conservatives jumped on the bandwagon, claiming Biden’s comment painted a broad stroke over good folks who just happen to back Trump. It’s like calling the whole buffet “gross” because you didn’t like one dish. In a bid to clarify—because what else is a president to do?—Biden took to social media, stating that he was referencing the “hateful rhetoric” from Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally, which he described as the only appropriate term he could muster.

In the spirit of good ol’ political wrangling, a White House spokesperson chimed in to say Biden was specifically addressing Tony Hinchcliffe, the comedian who delivered some spicy lines at the rally. But wait, there’s more! The White House even released a transcript of Biden’s comments, which contained an apostrophe in “supporter’s.” This tiny detail set off a firestorm, with top Republicans claiming Biden meant to target all Trump supporters, not just the vocal ones.

To add another twist to the tale, even some Democrats were raising eyebrows. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro made an appearance on CNN, assuring viewers he “would never insult the good people of Pennsylvania or any Americans,” no matter their candidate of choice. It’s almost like he’s auditioning for the role of “Politician Who Knows How to Handle the Heat.”

In the end, it looks like Biden’s words will keep everyone on their toes – especially his own team. So, grab your popcorn and watch this political drama unfold!
