The Mustang is celebrating. It turns 60 years old and Ford wants to celebrate big. Synonymous with fun, freedom, performance, and a touch of rebellion, the brand announces new versions for this iconic model.
Today is a special day for Mustang fans. The model is turning 60 years old since it was first released at the New York World’s Fair on April 17, 1964. It broke the mold by establishing a sales record in the industry during its first year, with over 418,000 vehicles sold. The Ford Mustang has been the best-selling sports car in the world for over 10 years.
To celebrate six decades of uninterrupted Mustang production, Ford today announces two new versions for Europe. The new Mustang California Special, a modern version of a special edition first introduced in 1968, and the new Mustang Nite Pony Package, which adds even more personality with style enhancements.
These are the new Mustangs for Europe
The new Mustang California Special reflects the essence of the American West Coast style with a unique design. It will be available in eight exterior color options, including silver and blue. The model adds distinctive side stripes finished in a combination of light blue and shiny black, and features an exclusive GT/CS logo that is almost invisible in dim light, but stands out much more in sunlight. The 19-inch alloy wheels feature a machined front with blue details, complemented by a GT/CS badge on the front grille and a GT badge on the trunk lid, both finished in the same color.

Inside, the California Special features Navy Pier upholstery and black leather seats, with two-tone stitching in metallic blue and gray running through the dashboard, doors, steering wheel, and center console. The Mustang California Special is now available for order in Mustang GT convertible body, with the option of a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission for the 5.0-liter V8 engine.
Regarding the Mustang Nite Pony Package, the model incorporates the new Nite Pony package, which offers the option of giving a darker touch to the Mustang, and is also now available for order in Mustang GT coupe and convertible versions, with the option of manual or automatic transmission for the 5.0-liter V8 engine. The package includes alloy wheels, roof, mirror covers, and headlight trims all painted in black, as well as the front and rear Pony emblems.

Also, and continuing with the good news, Ford has also just confirmed that the Mustang GTD will also arrive in Europe. This high-performance street-legal variant incorporates active aerodynamics and semi-active suspension, and will only be sold in limited units.
During the upcoming 24 Hours of Le Mans, which will take place on June 15 and 16, attendees will have the opportunity to see the Mustang GTD in action, as well as watch the Mustang GT3 compete. European applications for the Mustang GTD are expected to open this summer.
