The magazine Forbes has just published the list of the richest people in the world in 2024. Among them, someone very well-known in the automotive sector and owner of Tesla. Indeed: Elon Musk, although he descends to third position in the ranking.
Not long ago, in 2021, the name of Elon Musk represented the richest man in the world, but businessman Bernard Arnault snatched the leadership shortly after, and the CEO of Tesla dropped to second place. Now Musk descends another position and is now third on this curious list of “multibillionaires” that Forbes has just published. What is happening to the empire of the American tycoon and his wide range of financial interests that encompasses multiple and diverse sectors such as automotive, space, astronomy, education, renewables, or energy among others?
Be that as it may, Musk still has a whopping net worth, but let’s see how the current list of billionaires stands.
These are the current richest
According to Forbes, Bernard Arnault (75 years old) still holds the honorable position of richest man in the world this year, with an estimated fortune of $226.2 billion. Arnault is the head of the luxury giant LVMH, which includes companies like Louis Vuitton and Dior.
He is followed by Jeff Bezos (60 years old), founder of the ecommerce giant Amazon, who has amassed a fortune of $198.4 billion. The owner of Tesla, SpaceX, and X (formerly Twitter), Elon Musk drops to third place this year, with a fortune of $195.3 billion. Until March 2024, Musk and Bezos have been fluctuating between second and third place due to changes in the stock prices of Amazon and Tesla.
According to the report, there are now more billionaires than ever: there are a total of 2,781 in the world, 141 more than last year and 26 more than the record set in 2021. As for the country with the most super rich people in the world, the first place goes to the United States, with 813 billionaires.
