Tourism has grown enormously in recent years, to the point where the places that rely on it the most are asking for it to stop, be controlled and managed in a different way because it is reaching a point where the inhabitants of the most popular cities and towns can no longer live there due to the overcrowding and gentrification.
This has led to an attempt to evolve tourism, opting for other more sustainable and respectful options. But Elon Musk always wants to give that extra touch, that differential note that sets him apart from the rest, and his “solution” for the current state of tourism is to take it to a distant place, specifically to the Moon.
It was last year when the magnate stated that his next big goal was space tourism, and although Space X is not the only company focused on turning this utopia into a reality, it is undoubtedly the most famous.
It was in 2018 when the Japanese billionaire, Yusaku Maezawa announced his intention to take a tourist flight to the Moon in Starship, Elon Musk’s ship and considered the most powerful in the world, as part of the ‘dearMoon’ mission.
This space journey was scheduled for 2023, however, technical complications have prevented it, since in the numerous launch attempts the company has made in recent years, good results have not been obtained (even one of the ships exploded). This has led the Japanese billionaire to announce the cancellation of this tourist trip to the Moon, as confirmed in a statement.
“Without a clear certainty regarding the short-term schedule, it is with great regret that Maezawa has made the inevitable decision to cancel the project,” the statement says. Summarizing the letter, the magnate points out that for now this space mission was unviable and that there is no certainty about the short-term schedule of this project.
