Disneyland Paris is beginning a new era marked by a new creative vision, new experiences, unprecedented expansion, and the introduction of a new visual identity. As part of the 32nd anniversary celebrations of the French leisure destination, the park has revealed all the upcoming novelties in the resort, which has been carrying out an intense modernization program in recent years.
The most significant change will be a name change in the Walt Disney Studios park, which will be renamed Disney Adventure World. This change will take effect when the new themed area dedicated to the world of Frozen comes to life alongside a majestic lake.
This transformation of the park aims to take the visitor experience to another level, and over the next few years, the entire resort will focus on offering visitors new and surprising proposals and increasingly immersive adventures.
On April 12, 1992, Disneyland Paris opened its doors for the first time to the thousands of visitors who came to the first Disney Park in Europe. Later in March 2002, Walt Disney Studios Park was joined, a complementary park that offered visitors the best magic of film, animation, and television. Now is the time to take a step forward into an ambitious future.
During the 32nd-anniversary celebration of the park on April 12, executives and creatives from the resort announced to almost 1,000 fans and park employees the innovative shows that will debut in the park in the coming months, the upcoming phase of transformation of the Disney hotels, and the planned improvements in the Disney Village area.
One of the most notable novelties is the expansion and transformation that will take place in Walt Disney Studios Park. With an expected investment of around 2.000 billion euros, Disney Studios will change its name and expand its extension with new themed areas that will join the Marvel Avengers Campus, which opened its doors in 2022, and the World of Pixar.
Since 2007, the park began a significant expansion journey with the launch of multiple large-scale projects such as The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Toy Story Playland, and Ratatouille: The Adventure. Now the experience expands with new areas and surprising new proposals.
The immersive worlds inspired by the most popular Disney films of all time will become the cornerstone of the park’s transformation over the next few years.
“Today we are changing the story of Walt Disney Studios Park, evolving from ‘how it’s made’ in the recording studios to new adventures that come to life in immersive worlds. These adventure worlds will be the protagonists of the park’s new identity and will appear as kingdoms that visitors will discover as they enter the park and participate in adventures inspired by our favorite stories,” explained Tom Fitzgerald, executive creative director of Disneyland Paris.
This transformation, involving more than 90% of Walt Disney Studios Park, will be accompanied by a name change that will coincide with the opening of the new themed area of the Frozen World.
“With our commitment to expanding the boundaries of immersion and innovation, we are creating new stunning experiences and spectacular moments in Disney Adventure World that will resonate more than ever with our visitors and offer unique adventures in immersive worlds that will perfectly complement Disneyland Park,” stated Natacha Rafalski, President of Disneyland Paris, during the presentation of the new brand.
New Frozen World
The new Frozen World will transport visitors to the kingdom of Arendelle, with its colorful facades and the North Mountain. The land will be located on the edge of Adventure Bay, a lake of 70,000 cubic meters surrounded by a boardwalk that will serve as the gateway to the new themed universes that will surround it.
More than just an iconic location in the Park, Adventure Bay will be a 360-degree stage equipped with the latest technologies to offer water shows, with fountains, music, lights, and special effects that aim to further surprise visitors.
Starting this month, the park’s transformation work will extend to the entrance area to immerse visitors in the new story as soon as they enter Disney Adventure World.
After passing through the turnstiles, visitors will become special guests at a glamorous movie premiere in the heart of Hollywood on a starry night. The new entrance building, renamed as World Premiere, will reopen its doors in the spring of 2025.
Once outside the building, visitors will arrive at the heart of World Premiere Plaza in an elegant Art Deco-inspired setting. The teams at Walt Disney Imagineering Paris are already working to transform the park’s former central square with a decoration inspired by the famous facades of Broadway and West End theaters.
To access the immersive worlds of the park, visitors will be able to walk along Adventure Way, a pathway surrounded by themed landscapes and gardens. In this area, visitors will be able to discover ‘Rapunzel Tangled Spin,’ a new family-friendly attraction inspired by the Disney animated film ‘Tangled’ that will transport visitors to the iconic scene of floating lanterns.
In addition, the park will add two new shows to its lineup this year: a musical inspired by Alice in Wonderland with acrobats pushing their limits and two alternative endings decided by the public in spring, as well as a new nighttime activation of projections, music, and special effects that will take place in late 2024 in the Marvel Avengers Campus area and will last until spring 2025.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy a new dining service at The Regal View Restaurant and Lounge, a table-service restaurant that will offer guests views of Adventure Bay, as well as an opportunity to meet some of their favorite Disney princesses.
Renovation in Disney Village and Davy Crockett Ranch
Disneyland Paris will also offer new shopping and accommodation options. Disney Village, the resort’s commercial, gastronomic, and entertainment complex, is also undergoing a complete renovation with the addition of new restaurants, shops, and renovated facades.
As for the hotels, all bungalows in the Disney Davy Crockett Ranch will also be gradually replaced. This remodeling project, set to launch this year, will pay homage to Disney characters like Junior Woodchucks, alongside Donald Duck and his friends. This is in addition to the reopening earlier this year of the legendary Disneyland Hotel that reopened its doors after a majestic makeover.
The park assures that this is just the beginning of more novelties to come in the coming months. A new immersive world, whose concept and design are being finalized by the Imagineers engineering team, will undoubtedly increase the appeal of this park over the next few years.
