To find out where the world’s wealth centers are located, the Hurun Global Rich List 2024, which would be an Asian counterpart to Forbes’ list of millionaires, has created a graphic showing how billionaires are distributed in each country and city.
As context, the 3,279 ultra-rich individuals worldwide on this list increased their wealth by 9% in 2023, accumulating a total wealth of $15 trillion.
By countries, despite losing 155 billionaires, China remains the world capital of billionaires with 814. The United States was just behind with 800 mega fortunes, adding 109. Between the ‘Two Greats,’ China and the United States have 49% of the known billionaires on the planet, a 4% decrease in the data.
India has 271 billionaires, adding 84, almost double the number of billionaires in the United Kingdom (146). Brazil, Indonesia, and Japan acquired 64, 47, and 44 super-rich individuals, respectively.
The preferred cities of the super-rich
By cities, New York (119) once again becomes the billionaire capital of the world, followed by London in second place, with 97 billionaires.
Mumbai was the fastest-growing billionaire capital in the world, adding 26 in the year and bringing it to third place among the billionaire capitals of the world and Asia. New Delhi entered the Top 10 for the first time. Palm Beach, Istanbul, Mexico City, and Melbourne entered the Hurun Top 30 Cities.
