There are collaborations between apps and services that make sense, for example, Spotify with Shazam, the app that detects and tells you which song is playing, however, there are also other agreements that at least initially make one wonder where they came from.
This is perfectly the case between DAZN and Onlyfans. The first is a sports content streaming service, while the second is a kind of social network where users pay to see private content, usually of an erotic nature, although as clarified by the company, Onlyfans is much more than just nudes and others.
And that’s what the new agreement is all about, to merge their two markets and offer a new experience to users. In particular, both companies have signed a contract to offer users exclusive boxing content, one of the main sports for DAZN.
This agreement, which lasts for one year, will allow Onlyfans to have a new channel dedicated to broadcasting up to seven boxing matches in addition to a myriad of related content from the app.
This agreement may be very surprising to many, however, the relationship between Onlyfans and boxing is not new, as the platform already sponsored the fight on DAZN between Ryan García and David Haney just a few days ago.
Now, the company goes a step further to strengthen this link between boxing and Onlyfans, allowing DAZN to open a profile on said app to broadcast exclusive content on the boxing matches signed, which in addition to the fight itself will show interviews and summaries.
Keily Blair, CEO of OnlyFans, has explained that: “OnlyFans has changed the way athletes interact with their fans in the digital age. With so many combat sports athletes sharing exclusive content on OnlyFans, we have become the platform of reference for creators and fans of boxing, MMA, and other sports.”
Before the erotic ‘boom’ that hit the app a few years ago, this platform was used (and still is) by celebrities or other personalities to offer a more private look into their lives, where they upload content they do not want to expose to the masses, but do not mind sharing with smaller groups, as long as they pay.
Therefore, and although there are still many unknowns surrounding this topic, we can be sure that there will not be any sexual or erotic content in this collaboration.
