Cybersecurity has become an essential part of our daily lives, as our digital presence is increasing. We see how hundreds of people fall victim to scams, frauds, and theft every day, which is why users, manufacturers, and institutions work to reduce these attacks and protect the personal and banking information of citizens.

While users are becoming more aware and better prepared to detect scams, the truth is that it has already been proven that it is not enough, and therefore manufacturers and developers of devices, apps, and platforms must work to introduce new security and protection measures.

A clear example of this is Android, which has started to show the advances of the new security and protection features that the new operating system they are going to launch, Android 15, will have. Just last week we told you about how this new system would prevent physical theft of the device, and today we will focus on other improvements that will include protection against scams and deception.

Improvements in Android 15 security

To design them, Google has considered what the weakest points and most common entry points for viruses are in order to strengthen control, detection, and protection measures in these areas.

Threat detection in Google Play

Powered by Artificial Intelligence, this new feature will detect strange behaviors in the apps we have installed and alert Google teams to review them.

Protection of one-time codes against malware

To prevent cybercriminals from accessing our accounts, one-time passwords (OTP) will not appear in notifications.

Security enhancements to prevent social engineering attacks

The idea is to prevent scams that involve the user sharing their screen, so the screen will not be shown when we have to enter usernames, passwords, or credit card information.

Developer tools to prevent fraud

Developers will have tools available to detect if someone is recording the screen or controlling the device without the user’s knowledge, as well as others to detect malware.
