We all have that person in our lives who practically gets motion sickness every time they get in the car, even if they are sitting in the passenger seat, rolling down the window, or driving as gently as possible.
Research shows that motion sickness is usually caused by a sensory conflict between what a person sees and feels, and this sensation is often multiplied if the person is using a screen device.
Apple wants every time you use one of their devices, whether it’s an iPhone or an iPad, to be the best possible experience, and considering that there are thousands of people who suffer from motion sickness when traveling by car, they have wanted to provide a solution to this problem.
For this, they have introduced the new Vehicle Motion Signals feature, a tool designed to reduce motion sickness in the car by counteracting this “sensory conflict” that occurs when we are in the car.
The truth is that it is a fairly simple tool, but according to the company it is effective, and when activated, animated points start to come out of the edges of the screen that rotate to the rhythm of the car’s movement to counteract this feeling of erratic movement that causes motion sickness.
These moving points visually simulate the car’s movement without interfering with the phone’s content, and could help users to read and play more comfortably while sitting in the back seat.
This novelty is part of a set of features that Apple has presented for Global Accessibility Awareness Day, celebrated on May 16, and will probably be launched as part of iOS 18 along with the iPhone 16 later this year.
