Apple is considering launching a new model of iPad Pro that would be equipped with the M4 chip. Instead of waiting to introduce this chip in Mac computers, the company wants to first introduce it in its tablet line, thus marking the beginning of a new era in artificial intelligence (AI) before its annual developer event (WWDC 2024) in May.
The May 7th Apple event will reveal new iPad models, including one with an OLED screen and another iPad Air with a 12.9-inch screen, as well as updates to its accessories, such as new Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard.
Days before this event, it has been reported that Apple has decided to advance its foray into AI, opting to equip the iPad Pro with the M4 chip instead of the initially planned M3. This new processor would come with an improved neural engine designed to enhance AI applications, as reported by Apple analyst and Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman in his ‘Power On’ newsletter.
This move towards devices with AI anticipates the company’s official strategy in this area, which is expected to be presented in more detail at WWDC 2024 in June. Additionally, it would allow users to have a device capable of taking advantage of the future AI capabilities that will come with iPadOS 18.
