We can say that the two essential devices in our day-to-day life are the smartphone and computer, and for many people, the smartphone is sufficient. However, for years there has also been a hybrid between the two devices, tablets, and despite being very popular during their early years, they are not currently in the position that manufacturers would expect them to be.
This is because at the end of the day, users prefer to use a computer for tasks that require larger screens, and for everything else, they are satisfied with their smartphones. But Apple wants to change this concept, and knowing that separating from our smartphone is practically impossible, they want to do away with computers.
That’s what they have shown after the presentation of their new iPads that they showcased for the first time this past Tuesday during the “Let Loose” event, their first major event of the year. Alongside Tim Cook, Apple has introduced the new iPad Pro (2024) model that will be accompanied by the new Apple Pencil Pro, as well as the new version of the AirPad Air 6.
iPad Pro (2024) and all its novelties
The highlight of this presentation was the iPad Pro (2024), and it has not disappointed. As usual, the company offers it in two sizes (11 and 13 inches), but unlike past releases, the screen of this tablet has the thinnest design they have ever presented, reducing its thickness to 5.1 and 5.3 mm.
Another standout aspect, if not the most prominent, is the introduction of the highly anticipated M4 chip, the most powerful and fastest to date. Its processor has been presented as the most robust ever put on a tablet, thanks to the Neural Engine technology, equipped with Artificial Intelligence and, according to Apple, is capable of performing 38 trillion operations per second.
Also worth mentioning is its Ultra Retina XDR display, with two OLED panels and the built-in 12-megapixel camera. Its starting price is also noteworthy, as Apple has released them starting at €1,199 for the 11-inch model and €1,549 for the 13-inch model.
Another novelty they presented yesterday was the new iPad Air 6, which also comes in two sizes (11 and 13 inches) and in this case has a M2 chip that, despite being far from the iPad Pro, greatly surpasses the capabilities of its predecessor, the iPad Air 5. It can be found starting at €699 or €949 depending on the size.
Finally, Apple also introduced two new versions of accessories for these tablets, on one hand, there is the Apple Pencil Pro, a smart pen with interchangeable tips that improves the stroke and precision that you can find for €149. While the new Magic Keyboard with a trackpad has also arrived.
With these releases, Apple has made it clear their commitment to tablets, and their intention to revive this range of devices by making them more capable and complete by offering more power and autonomy than most laptops.
