Spotify has extended the paywall to more users, which requires access to song lyrics only with a premium subscription, a feature that was originally free three years ago.

The audio streaming platform incorporated song lyrics in 2021, both in free accounts and in premium subscriptions, so that users could follow them along with their favorite artists’ songs.

In September, the company began a test in which some users of free accounts lost access to song lyrics, a restriction that more users have started to experience in recent days.

On social media and forums like Reddit, they have shared the notification that appears -on the website and mobile application- when they try to access the song lyrics, which urges them to subscribe to the premium plan to see them again.
