iPhone trick for when you have poor coverage at home for making calls

Despite all the technological advances we have achieved to this day, we have still not been able to solve an old acquaintance such as coverage problems. If certain conditions are not met, there are times when not even the most powerful antennas are able to connect to our device, preventing us from making calls.

While it is true that this has been partially solved by enabling the ability to make calls on certain apps such as WhatsApp, Skype, or Telegram through the internet, it is essential that the other person also has these platforms downloaded as well.

The problem is that the person we want to call may not have these apps, and if it were not for this function on iPhones, we might not have a way to contact them. Apple models running iOS 13 or higher have a built-in function that allows them to take advantage of Wi-Fi network coverage for traditional calls.

Especially in rural areas, when we go to the grandma’s house in the village or on a romantic rural weekend getaway, we may find that there is barely any coverage or no connection at all, but luckily there is Wi-Fi, something essential for this trick to work.

How to Activate Wi-Fi Calling on iPhone

To activate this functionality, we will have to open the Settings section of our iPhone and click on the Mobile Data section. Here we will have to look for the Wi-Fi Calling option and activate it. From this moment on, whenever possible, calls will be made using this connection.

This alternative is not only an advantage for cases where we have no coverage, but when the Wi-Fi signal is strong and good, the call in general will improve in terms of quality and stability. Additionally, effects such as delay are corrected, and voice coverage can even be improved.

It is worth noting that unfortunately, even if your phone supports it, there is a drawback, which is that not all telecommunication companies support this function, although the major ones do. Therefore, if you are a customer of Jazztel, Lowi, Movistar, O2, Orange, Simyo, or Vodafone, you can activate Wi-Fi calls without any problems, while others like Digi or Yoigo have not yet been updated.
