In a move just hours before the transition of power on Monday, President Joe Biden has granted clemency to several individuals who may find themselves under scrutiny from the forthcoming Donald Trump administration.
According to the Associated Press, among those pardoned are Anthony Fauci, retired General Mark Milley, and members of the House committee that probed the events of January 6 at the Capitol.
Biden remarked in a statement, “The act of granting these pardons should not be interpreted as an acknowledgment of wrongdoing by any individual, nor should the acceptance of these pardons be viewed as an admission of guilt for any crime. Our nation owes a profound debt of gratitude to these public servants for their unwavering dedication to our country.”
