Donald Trump concluded his pre-Inauguration Day festivities in a manner that was far from cordial towards outgoing President Joe Biden.
“EVICTION NOTICE,” stated his transition team on the social media site X. “At 12:00 p.m. ET, White House Senior Living will no longer be operational and its occupant will be relocated to a permanent facility in Delaware.”
The president-elect had initially released a version of this 30-second clip over a year ago on his social media platform, Truth Social.
“At White House Senior Living, our residents enjoy the comforts of home. Our dynamic facility provides engaging activities and outings, continuous expert care, and delicious meals prepared in-house,” the message reads over footage of Biden walking on the beach, putting on his jacket aided by first lady Jill Biden, and sharing pizza with service members.
The video then transitions to Biden, 82, proclaiming his fondness for Italian cuisine.
“And ice cream,” Jill Biden adds.
“Chocolate-chip ice cream,” he concurs.
On Friday, the New York Times disclosed that six prominent members of Biden’s close-knit team—including Jill Biden and their son Hunter—had observed indicators of his aging but sought to shape public perception regarding his decline.
They believed he had the potential to defeat Trump, until a chaotic debate in late June compelled the president to withdraw from the race at the last moment.
Even now, Biden—who has conducted fewer press conferences and personal interviews than any president since at least Ronald Reagan—maintains he could have succeeded where his vice president, Kamala Harris, could not.
When asked if he might have triumphed, he responded to USA Today earlier this month, “It’s somewhat presumptuous to claim that, but I think so.”
Other Democratic leaders—including then-Majority Leader Chuck Schumer—had expressed concerns for months leading up to the debate that Trump was effectively casting Biden’s age and energy as the chief narrative of the election, jeopardizing the president’s re-election chances.
It’s a theme that Trump—who will surpass Biden to become the oldest individual ever inaugurated as president—appears committed to even after defeating Harris.
“White House Senior Living. Where residents are presidents,” the video wraps up.
