Tucker Carlson is addressing GOP senators who may oppose the confirmation of Tulsi Gabbard as Donald Trump’s director of national intelligence.
The ex-Fox News anchor made these incisive remarks during a speech on Thursday night in Phoenix, Arizona, as part of Turning Point USA’s “America Fest” gathering.
In a video clip posted by Mediaite, Carlson starts off by discussing Gabbard’s military background.
“She dedicated 20 years to service in the U.S. military. So, I ask, if she were indeed a foreign operative, how could she possibly have been armed while serving in the military? It’s ludicrous,” he expressed to the conservative crowd.
“You’ll be able to determine whose loyalties lie where by the way they react to Tulsi Gabbard,” Carlson declared passionately. “If any Republican senators are voting against Tulsi Gabbard’s confirmation, either in the Intel committee or during the open Senate session, you’ll recognize that they are not just my adversary, but also someone who opposes the call for change, transparency, openness, and a fight against corruption and the draining of the swamp.”
“That person stands as an enemy to the United States. It’s as straightforward as that. And you’ll hear the same narrative. They will claim it’s about national security. They’ll say we can’t allow our adversaries to be aware. They will say we can’t rely on Tulsi Gabbard. No, the real question is, can we trust you,” he continued.
Gabbard, who campaigned for the presidency as a Democrat in 2020 prior to switching to the Republican party, was nominated by Trump for the role last November.
“I am confident that Tulsi will bring the fearless spirit that has characterized her distinguished career to our Intelligence Community, advocating for our Constitutional Rights and ensuring Peace through Strength. Tulsi will make us all proud!” Trump stated at the time.
Avril Haines currently holds the position of director of national intelligence under Joe Biden, having made history in 2021 as the first woman to serve in that role.
