Following President-elect Donald Trump’s recent triumph against ABC News and its prominent anchor George Stephanopoulos, a MAGA supporter and associates of Trump are now advocating for the new president to initiate a lawsuit against billionaire Illinois Governor JB Pritzker.
“With Trump having successfully won his defamation lawsuit versus ABC for labeling him a ‘rapist,’ when will he take action against Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker for consistently misrepresenting and referring to him in the same manner?” tweeted former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, who spent eight years behind bars after being convicted of public corruption and became supportive of the president-elect after receiving clemency during Trump’s initial term.
The tweet from Blagojevich quickly gained traction in the MAGA community, resulting in hundreds of retweets calling for Trump to pursue legal action.
“He ought to sue everyone who has publicly defamed him… the funds could be donated… there are countless worthwhile causes that would benefit financially…” commented one follower who retweeted Blagojevich’s statement regarding Trump.
Another user remarked, “INVESTIGATE Pritzker as well, he is corrupt! He should face a lawsuit for deceiving the American public.”
Roger Stone, Trump’s former associate and convict, even shared the story again.
While campaigning on behalf of Vice President Kamala Harris in June, Pritzker referred to Trump as an “adjudicated rapist” and a “congenital liar.”
“He’s a racist, sexist, misogynistic narcissist aiming to leverage power for his enrichment and to retaliate against those who dare criticize him,” stated Pritzker—whose personal attacks would likely be far more challenging to contest due to political free speech protections that wouldn’t extend to Stephanopoulos.
Pritzker would also represent a significantly tougher opponent in court given his considerable wealth—estimated at 3.7 billion, attributed to his family’s Hyatt hotel empire, as per Forbes.
He assumed office in 2019, winning against Republican incumbent Bruce Rauner.
