President-elect Donald Trump has appointed his personal attorney, Alina Habba, to the position of counselor to the president.
In a Truth Social announcement made on Sunday evening, Trump referred to Habba as a “dedicated champion for Justice, a staunch Defender of the Rule of Law, and an invaluable Advisor to my Campaign and Transition Team,” highlighting her new responsibilities at the White House.
“Her loyalty has been steadfast, and her determination is second to none,” the president-elect added. “She has stood by my side through numerous ‘trials,’ challenges, and countless days spent in Court. Few comprehend the Weaponization of the ‘Injustice’ System as well as Alina, who has fought tirelessly against the overwhelming strength of Lawfare with bravery and unwavering dedication to Justice.”
“As a first-generation American of Middle Eastern descent, she has emerged as an inspiration for women in Law and Politics, most recently honored as Chaldean Woman of the Year,” Trump concluded his remarks before congratulating Habba and her family on this new chapter.
The 40-year-old Trump supporter also took to Twitter to express her excitement over the news, calling it the “honor of my life to serve the 45th and 47th President and the American people.”
There had been earlier speculation that Habba would take on the role of Trump’s White House press secretary, but her appointment as counselor underscores that her strong loyalty has indeed been recognized.
Instead, Habba will collaborate closely with Trump and is set to be one of his senior advisors. Since joining his legal team in 2021, she has rigorously defended Trump and represented him in several high-profile cases, including his hush-money trial and a civil lawsuit from E. Jean Carroll, where he was found liable for sexual abuse.
A dedicated member of Trump’s close circle, Habba has also frequently joined him on the campaign trail this year, even making an appearance at a rally in Madison Square Garden, where she was seen wearing a red bodysuit adorned with a sparkling “MAGA” slogan.
