WhatsApp is the number one messaging app in the world, it is a very complete service that offers almost all possible forms of communication within the same platform to its more than 2.5 billion users worldwide.
This is because in addition to being able to send messages, it also offers calls, video calls, video messages, and the very famous voice messages. This last function is one of the favorites, although in certain cases (when they send you very long voice messages) it can be what one dislikes the most.
Although the company is already working on it, and as we discovered a few weeks ago they were preparing one of the most anticipated functions by all to transcribe voice notes, there are still aspects to improve on this tool.
If you have ever tried to listen to an audio with your phone on the table instead of having it attached to your ear, you may have noticed that the playback stopped and the screen went black, cutting off the audio. And when you put it back, the same thing happened again.
This is due to the motion sensor of your phone, which is designed to identify when you are close to the device and have your ear pressed against it to turn off its screen and thus prevent you from accidentally pressing the different buttons with your ear and, for example, hanging up unintentionally.
But this is annoying for voice messages, so in today’s article we will show you how to deactivate the proximity sensor so that your WhatsApp audios do not cut off.
How to deactivate the proximity sensor on a mobile phone
This simple process follows these steps in the vast majority of Android-powered phones, and in those where it is not exactly the same, the process is very similar.
The first thing we have to do is go to the Settings section of our device, then look for the Apps or App settings section and access the Call section.
And although what we want to fix is in WhatsApp, the sensor is on the phone and is designed for calls, so we have to edit it from here. Once we are in this section, we will have to locate the option for Incoming call settings, and here we will deactivate the proximity sensor function. It is worth mentioning that you may have to restart the phone for the change to take effect.
