The elegantly structured environment of LB Closets presents distinct modular storage options, offering tailored systems that assist homeowners in maintaining organization within their closets, garages, pantries, laundry areas, and other spaces. Based in Tempe, Arizona, the firm empowers community members to enhance their residences into aesthetically pleasing and functional retreats, fulfilling and surpassing each client’s individual requirements.
The foundation of LB Closets is anchored on values of integrity, innovation, and superior customer service—principles cultivated by the individuals behind the enterprise. Established by Lance Bevans in 1996, the business utilizes over 37 years of industry knowledge to transform visions of customized closets into reality. While Lance is the founder of LB Closets, the company’s origins can be traced back to Neil Balter, a Californian who initiated California Closets many years prior.
After relocating to California, Lance found employment with an oil corporation, operating on the rigs in Bakersfield. With a young family at home, he sought to change his career path and get back to his loved ones. By chance, he met Neil—this encounter initiated a rewarding collaboration that revolutionized living environments in both California and Alberta, Canada. For 12 years, Lance managed a California Closets franchise in Calgary, eventually moving into a consulting position based out of Arizona, where his family relocated in 1995.
Following Neil’s sale of the business, Lance embarked on a (not entirely) solitary entrepreneurial path, launching LB Closets in 1996. Although he started the company alone, a sense of family and teamwork has permeated the organization from its inception. Katrina Wright, COO and Lance’s daughter, remarks: “My dad adheres to traditional business principles. At LB Closets, a handshake is your assurance.”
Remaining true to Lance’s commitment to transparency and honesty, the organization weathered challenging times without major setbacks, including the economic downturn of 2008 and the surge of business closures during COVID-19. Despite his passion for tradition, Lance has always embraced change, welcoming technological advancements and innovations to remain relevant in a dynamic world.
With nostalgia, Katrina reflects on those Saturdays in Arizona, where she, her siblings, and their mother assisted Lance in providing services to each client, leveraging their powerful family bond to meet even the most complex desires. “This business is truly our legacy. It supported my brothers’ education, enabling one to become a dedicated dentist and the other a spirited entrepreneur. Each of us played a role in constructing LB Closets from the ground up, just as it helped us build our ideal lives,” she shares.
After journeying across the country with her spouse and prompted by Lance’s appeal, Katrina rejoined the office in 2015, poised to embrace increased responsibilities as her father gradually entered retirement. By 2017, the company welcomed another family member – Brando Salazar, a committed individual who, after arriving in the US from Mexico at age 6, discovered his calling in hotel renovations. Raised by a single mother, he found mentorship under Lance’s watch during a pivotal moment, enthusiastically uncovering the unique qualities that distinguished LB Closets and igniting a deep passion for creative and functional storage solutions.
Brando, whom Lance affectionately refers to as ‘his adopted son,’ naturally evolved into a core part of this family-operated enterprise, eventually taking on ownership and committing to uphold the founder’s vision. With his principles in harmony with those of Katrina and Lance, the transition was a seamless progression that propelled the company’s development while honoring the employees and clients that have contributed to LB Closets over the years.
Enhancing the humanity at the core of the company is LB Closets’ engagement with local communities, charitable causes, and philanthropic initiatives. This year, the firm emphasized launching a women’s shelter project that motivates clients to declutter and donate gently used clothing that has been neglected. Through this initiative, LB Closets aims to not only uplift women in need but also assist customers in creating clean, organized, and intentional spaces where every clothing item is valued and appreciated.
As society progresses towards people-centric movements, emphasizing the human touch often overshadowed in the digital age, Katrina’s sentiment rings truer than ever: “It’s all about looking towards the future while cherishing our history, being present for our clients, and ensuring we care for those who care for us.”
