Bit2Me has been chosen by Mastercard to be part of Crypto Credential, a new secure and verified international transaction service between different cryptocurrency exchanges. Bit2Me becomes one of the first exchanges to complete the first live peer-to-peer pilot transactions through Crypto Credential, which helps verify interactions between consumers and businesses using blockchain networks.
For the first time, cryptocurrency users will be able to send and receive digital assets using their Mastercard Crypto Credential aliases, instead of typically long and complex blockchain addresses. Additionally, users in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, France, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and Uruguay can send national and international transfers in multiple currencies and blockchains.
Bit2Me has joined this innovative ecosystem as part of the shared commitment of companies to promote the adoption of digital assets and improve user experience in cross-border transactions.
According to Leif Ferreira, CEO and co-founder of Bit2Me: “We are proud to continue deepening our partnership with Mastercard, with whom we share a commitment to innovation and the development of solutions that promote the usability of solutions that drive payment alternatives through the use of crypto assets.”
Additionally, Mastercard and Bit2Me have formed a strategic alliance that will allow access to the Bit2Me Card for users in Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, and Brazil. With the Bit2Me Card, which can be obtained physically or virtually at no cost through the Bit2Me app, users can pay at over 90 million merchants accepting Mastercard worldwide with one of the 15 available cryptocurrencies as a payment method, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, or USDT, among others.
The service, which has been available in Spain since 2023 with over 354,000 transactions made, also offers cashback for purchases paid with the card. In 2023 alone, users were rewarded with over 160,000 euros in cryptocurrencies. It is now in the final stage of development for Argentina and will be widely available in the coming months. Argentina will be the first country in Latin America to have exclusive access to the product.
“Latin America represents a huge challenge and at the same time a great opportunity for us. Having the support of Mastercard, an undisputed leader in payments, is key to continue driving the cryptoeconomy throughout Latin America,” highlighted Pablo Casadío, co-founder of Bit2Me, CFO, and leader of the expansion in the region.
“Mastercard continues to invest in its technology, standards, and partnerships to deliver secure, simple, and trusted payments,” said Walter Pimenta, Executive Vice President of Product and Engineering, Latin America and the Caribbean at Mastercard. “As interest in blockchain and digital assets continues to grow in Latin America and worldwide, we are delighted to expand our work with Bit2Me. Together, we are entering new markets and providing reliable and verifiable interactions on public blockchain networks.”
