The European Union has updated the list of tax havens with the removal of four territories, while also taking six other countries off the grey list.
The European Council decided on February 26 to remove Bahamas, Belize, Seychelles, and the Turks and Caicos Islands from the EU list of non-cooperative countries and territories for tax purposes, also known as the blacklist. In addition, Albania, Hong Kong, Aruba, and Israel were removed from the grey list for fulfilling their commitments, and Botswana and Dominica for receiving positive ratings regarding information exchange.
Following this decision, the EU list of tax havens now consists of twelve countries or territories: American Samoa, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Fiji, Guam, Palau, Panama, Russia, Samoa, Trinidad and Tobago, US Virgin Islands, and Vanuatu.
On the other hand, the grey list is composed of eight territories: Armenia, British Virgin Islands, Costa Rica, Curacao, Eswatini, Malaysia, Turkey, and Vietnam.
