The recent Spanish Motorcycle Grand Prix held at the Jerez circuit shows the passion that this sport continues to evoke. Hundreds of thousands of fans traveled to the Cadiz region to see it in person. For all of them, it will also be good news that the official video game of this competition has been released earlier, as normally it was received when the season was much more advanced. However, it will be necessary to update it with the latest additions and updates in the different Moto 3, Moto 2, and powerful Moto GP teams.
In general, we are facing a very consistent title with the latest editions, which seems to have also reached its peak in terms of graphics and effects in the technical part. Therefore, we maintain all possible – and almost imaginable – modes in a speed title: from the classic split screen to measure ourselves on the same couch with a friend, to the championship mode, a single grand prix, online multiplayer, or the career mode to earn a place in the pit starting in Moto 3 until reaching the Moto GP… The races with changing weather from the previous edition are also maintained, something that adds even more realism to this simulator.
So let’s go straight to the main novelty of this MotoGP 24. Artificial intelligence (AI), which lately seems to permeate everything, also becomes the protagonist in this case. Here we talk about adaptive AI because the system detects how we pilot and alters everything around our skill. This translates into a constant challenge that demands that we give our best in each test. It encourages us not to despair, and we always have someone to overtake. When we reach a good level, the adaptive AI takes care of tightening the screws a bit more and our rivals also become better. So, if until now in any game we chose a difficulty level and settled there, in this case, there is also continuous evolution.
The ‘MotoGP’ saga has specialized in the most realistic simulation. Therefore, it is advisable to spend some time making the necessary adjustments and personalizing the experience to our liking so as not to be constantly falling. We start with one of the four possible levels – each with different enabled aids – and when we have spent time between asphalt and sand, we can make many more adjustments. In that transition, we will realize how important it is not to push the braking too much, even to balance our weight well on the two wheels in each move. We recommend starting gently and then gradually increasing our aggressiveness. It is very technical and demanding, we must admit, and that can compromise gameplay and fun.
Customizable Penalties Without Limits
That technical demand in the game itself can be taken to the extreme according to the penalties we are willing to endure. For example, among the almost infinite possible adjustments, in a menu before the celebration of a grand prix we can set to be penalized for entering the pits at more than 60 kilometers per hour or for a single off-track exit.
In this sense, and as a curiosity, ‘MotoGP24’ has come out of the same development studio -Milestone- as another speed game reviewed in this same magazine a few issues ago: ‘Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 Turbocharged’. If the first one is completely faithful to the mechanics and aims to convey maximum realism in driving, the second one is one of the best representatives of arcade style.
The other novelty of this ‘MotoGP 24′ is related to an aspect of the game more of management than of actual driving. It is the Pilots’ Market, where we can sign according to the value of each professional and also the team’s trajectory.
‘MotoGP 24’, in summary, offers everything that a fan of this sport may seek to recreate the excitement and, above all, the realism of a grand prix on the screen. We recommend adjusting the demand very well. And it is appreciated that, apart from all the official circuits included in this season, five other venues that have been left out of the calendar have been maintained and we can continue to enjoy them here.
